Tyler's Graduation Celebration

This past weekend we had my sons High School Graduation Party.  It was a wonderful time for family and friends to gather and show Tyler how proud we are of his accomplishment.  The day was bittersweet for me.  Although I am excited for Ty's next chapter and all the wonderful possibilities, it means that my oldest baby is growing up.

I have questioned myself and reflect on his life a lot.  Did I give him enough attention?  Did I teach him enough?  Does he know how much I love him?  Does he feel loved?  Is he ready for the world?  I know this all sounds silly because I know the answer to all these questions but I am a worrier and that is what we do.

So yesterday was not just a party, it was the start of another chapter.  Another chapter not just for Tyler but for me as well.

OK, I am done being sappy.  On to the fun stuff.  Here are some fun photos of me and my boys and the fun decorations.

It is always a good day when I get to spend time with all my cherubs.

I think this just might be the best picture Ty and I have ever taken.

 Happy Boy!

I added a cards banner to an old suitcase.

I used old windows for my bulletin boards.

For the centerpieces I planted succulents in old tool boxes, an old truck, a tackle box and chicken feeder.  This added the masculine touch I needed.

It was a day for the memory books.  I look forward to seeing all the future holds for this sweet, handsome, smart boy.

Bedroom Restyle

While I am awaiting my own renovations I helped out a friend.  She needed a bedroom restyle.  She had a ton of great stuff, we just needed to pull it all together.

She made herself an amazing headboard out of pocket doors.  Very cool.  All she had to do was distress them a little.

Next thing we had to address was bedding.  She had some, but it was not pretty, so she had to splurge a little.  We found just what she wanted at Target in the Rachel Ashwell line.  Lastly, we needed proper lighting.  Marshall's is a great source for lamps.  Of course, the ones we liked were the most expensive at $49.99.  Yes, we would have liked $24.99, but it was not to be and for a little more we have timeless lamps that will work in any room in the house.

So here is what we ended up with.

Beautiful, crisp white bedding from Target.

All of the accessories she had and they have some sentimental element.  That makes the space even more personal and special.

The night stands are different but both have a dark finish.  This ties them together and makes them look like they belong.  Also notice, I have 3 pictures on the right and 2 on the left.  Always work in odd numbers.

Love those lamps.

My favorite detail was this & sign inside a vintage frame.  It was funky and unexpected and perfect.

Make your bedroom an oasis.  It doesn't need to cost a fortune.  You probably have treasures hiding out just waiting to be put to good use.

Have a great weekend.

She's Back

Ok, I know, ridiculous.  I have been in this limbo mode for months.  We were moving and then we weren't.  So finally I feel a little settled.  It was hard to blog during that time.  No excuse, but I just couldn't get into it.

So now that we know we aren't moving I am back into renovation mode.  First on the list, bedroom #1. Rip out the carpet and redo the hardwood floors and rip out the cheaply made book shelf.  So much better already.

Can't wait to show you what I have planned.

I promise I will be back soon.  Have a great week.
