Collections

Dylan, my nine year old, and I have started a shell and sea glass collection.  We  go to the ocean frequently.  This gives us something to do together and just makes for a fun memory.  I have started picking up old bottles when I can get them for a deal.   I then stamp the date and place on tags picked up at Office Depot.  This way we know when and where.  Dylan admires his collection often.  He is proud of his sea treasures.

Jersey Shore

I was going through photos today and happened upon this one.  I just had to share.  This 4th of July we went camping.  To make things fun, it was decided that we would have theme nights.  This one in particular was Jersey Shore.  Cindy did a great job of dressing the part, but that is only part of the reason I love this photo.  The other is, Cindy is a free spirit and enjoys life.  This picture captures that completely. So, thank you Cindy for inspiring me today.

Marley Jo's 1st Birthday

My dear friend and co-worker, Lindsey, had a party for her daughter's 1st birthday.   It was a fun time for family and friends to get together and celebrate.  Part of enjoying life is embracing the little moments.  Marley Jo enjoying her cake was precious.  Just a reminder to "smell the roses", or "eat the cake".

Fun Flower Arrangements

My favorite flower containers are the ones not intended to be so.  The first arrangement is in an old oil can.  This is my go to.  My Dad found this at our family ranch so it is sentimental.  The second arrangement is in an old trophy cup.  The engraving is scratched out.  I love it anyway.  This treasure was purchased for $10 at the Alameda Flea Market.  The roses are from my garden.  I love them so much more than store bought.

Angie's Bedroom

As you can see, I had a blank slate to work with.  Decorating with whites, creams, and greys doesn't have to be boring.  You just have to add different layers and textures.  This was fun for me because this is my favorite palette.  The sconces were from Lamps Plus website, and although they were a little pricey, they made the room.  The silhouette portraits were from an artist I found on line named Kari Johnson at cutarts.com.  She actually hand cuts the portraits.  Up close you can really see the details.  You just send her profile pictures and she does the rest.  These are of Angie's kids so this was nice touch.  The old door headboard was a great find.  Nothing had to be done to it, and it was a bargain at $65.00.
