Feels Like Fall

The first sign of cooler weather and I was baking cookies and burning candles.  I am looking forward to Fall.

Thrift Stores Are Your Friend

I know you drive past them every day.  You think there is nothing in there you could possibly want.  I, on the other hand, love thrift stores.  It is the thrill of the hunt for me.  This week I came across this treasure at my local Salvation Army.  I have big plans.  I have already delivered it to the reupholsters.  Can't wait for the end result.  I know it will be amazing.
I know you can't really tell from the picture, but one side of the fabric is a muted turquoise, and the other side is tan.  I am having the base done in the turquoise and the buttons and piping in the tan.  I will post pictures as soon as I get it back.

Keep Decorating

Just a few more ideas.

This display is on my buffet in my dining room.  My favorite is the orange dish with the black dice.  The colors are what makes it.  So check the china cabinet.  You may have the perfect decoration without even buying a thing.  Add a little candy corn and antlers and you have a masterpiece.

It Is Time To Decorate for Halloween

I know it may seen too early, but I had the time so I thought I better get it done.  Six weeks passes so quickly.

Every year I buy 1 or 2 new things to add to my holiday decorations.  This year I bought the Vampire Love Potion canister and the Ravens Craft bottle.  Both were from Marshall's for under $10.  The crows, the web on the mirror, the runner and the skeletons in the glass jars were all from The Dollar Store.  Most of the glass jars came from Marshall's.  I love jars.  I use them for every holiday and for everyday decorating.  Hope you get some good ideas.

Get Snap Happy

When people come to my house for the first time, they almost always comment on my picture wall.  These are just some of my favorite photos I put together to make a collage.  Throw in some antlers and awesome frames and you have art.

My favorite photos are the candid ones.  The unexpected ones.  I am by no means a photographer, but I do know what I like.

These are just a few pics that made it to the wall and I didn't have to pay for an expensive photographer.  I just had to start snapping photos.  Sooner or later you will get that perfect picture.  And for some reason, making a picture black and white turns an ok photo to a fabulous one.

Under The Bridge - Sacramento Antiques Faire

Today was a day for treasure hunting.  I love going to this Antiques Faire.  It is the 2nd Sunday of every month.  These awesome posts are going to be the legs for my barn door dining table.  Dylan got tired, so he jumped in my treasure basket.  The preserver was a great find.  This would have sold at the Alameda Flea Market for $125 easy.  We snagged it for $22.  Lastly, Dylan spotted this original Coca-Cola pocket knife and bottle opener.  We got this for $12 and Dylan was a happy camper.

Capay Valley

This picture embodies Dylan's love of the outdoors.  It is dove season, so all birds beware.  He is a great shot.

Barn Door Part 2

I spent my Labor Day morning doing household chores. Then it was time to do something fun.  I started sanding my barn door.  One step closer to my new dining room table.  Can't wait.

Bring On The Pickles

There is nothing more organic, earthy and wholesome than canning with the family.  I enjoyed the day spending time with the people I love doing something we love to do.

Barn Door Reimagined

I got this barn door from the family ranch.  It is from the early 1940's.  I plan on making it into a farmhouse table for my dining room.  Stay tuned on the progress.
